By becoming a shipmate, you can serve on committees within SHiP that serve a vital role in preserving local history and archaeology. Committees submit reports on their activities to the biannual newsletter The Captain's Log. If you are interested in serving on a committee, contact the committee chair to get started!
Membership Committee

The membership committee is in charge of recruiting and welcoming new shipmates. The committee is also responsible for reminding shipmates of their annual dues, updating contact information, and reviewing and developing social media posts (e.g. Facebook, Instagram).
Publications Committee
Chair: Eric Olson (eols.eric@gmail.com)
Publications is responsible for general editing of reports, press releases, and the biannual newsletter The Captain's Log.
Historic Preservation Committee
Chair: Jerrad Lancaster (jlancaster@uakron.edu)
The Historic Preservation committee is responsible for submitting Ohio Archaeological and Ohio Historical Inventory forms related to SHiP projects. Additionally, the committee is in charge of bringing forward archaeology, historical, and other historic preservation projects to the board. The committee fields questions from the public about preservation practices, standards, laws, and regulations. Lastly, the committee is the primary point of contact for SHiP led National Register nominations.
Book Club Committee

The Book Club committee is responsible for organizing, notifying, and meeting with shipmates to discuss archaeology and history books. The committee chooses books to read, collectively, and discuss as a group.
